That's a good radio, it has a Collins mechanical filter in the receiver and sideband to boot. I had one. If you have the receiver working, does it transmit on AM? If so, you're good to go. I have a question. Besides having the AM/SSB switch on the receiver does the transmitter have a switch for AM/SSB or does the rig have that switch on the receiver only? Mine had no such switch on the transmitter yet it would transmit sideband just by putting the receiver switch to sideband. I was told that I had the SSB15 transmitter yet it wasn't marked to that effect, just Mark II, unless SSB15 is marked on the rear of the transmitter's chassis. I had the radio for awhile before I found out that it would transmit on sideband, I thought that it was sideband receive only and found it odd that you switched the receiver to sideband and didn't have to switch anything on the transmitter for sideband use. What say you and is SSB15 marked on the transmitter or just Golden Eagle Mark II? Anything marked on the transmitter chassis? Thanks much. I'm trying to figure out what my Mark II actually was.

Yes, the receiver had the AM/SSB switch but no such switch on the SSB 15 transmitter, that's what threw me off. Also, I wasn't questioning the person that explained to me what transmitter that I had, it's been so long ago that I had forgotten that it was marked SSB 15. It was a wicked talking radio. I used it when I lived in Cape Canaveral, Fla. I was about a block's length from the ocean with a CLR 2 antenna way up in the air and could usually talk to England barefoot!
