Hey anybody ever see the movie "Frequency" with Dennis Quaid? www.imdb.com/title/tt0186151/I was out of radio for about 17 years, then saw this one Sunday afternoon and I think it was what sparked my interest in digging all my equipment out and blowing the cobwebs out... Pretty good flick ! What radio is Frank Playing on ? Its on the tube Sunday Jan 16th @ 1:00 PM on WGN or you can check it out on Amazon.

I think it was a Yaesu FT-101, but I cannot be sure as I saw it a few years ago.

In the movie the radio he used to talk with was a Heathkit SB-301, which is only a receiver. He would have had to have the SB-401, which is the transmitter. I sure would have loved to see where the microphone was plugged in. And we never did see the antenna hookup.

I've seen radio setups in use, with no antenna or power connected to the connecters, or equipment that really isn't meant to transmit (but looks good to a non-radio person) being used.

They usually skimp on details like that, I guess they figure who will notice.

What about the Mountain Dew commercial?Where the girl is talking on a tube ham radio out in a thunderstorm. With that commercial they are actually showing the girl not getting electrocuted by operating the radio setup in the pouring rain.
