I would like to hear what people think about,, what is the best vfo to run on a mark III eagle ?? Which one has the most freq. span and which one has the best stability ? I really care which one is the most compatible with the eagle III Tell me all you can ?? the Good and Bad and the Ugly.......

You can use a Siltronix Model 90 #3, but the output level of the VFO should be increased or you'll notice a lower output level from your rig. Contact Fixr here via PM, he may have a boosted level VFO for the Mark III.
If you are only going to use it for AM transmitting, you *might* be able to get away using a Glen 326-G. They tend to drift from frequency.

I use a model 90-3 VFO on my MK III, and enjoy the freq range it gives. Make sure you use the proper patch cable to hook it up. Fixer might have a VFO already set up for a MK III.

I'm using a PAL, on my Mark III. It's the one for the the Browning LTD/Tram diamond 60. I just turned the trimmer to tune it down below Channel 1. I still tune up to about ch.34. A second xtal could be added. The Pal very stable, & there is no drop off of out put power, switching from Xtal to VFO. I had a custom Siltronix, but it was bulky looking next to the Pal. ..Forget about the Glen. It works, but you need the buffer thing.
