Howdee Folks,
This is another conversion question.
Thee other day I posted a similar question here and asked about doing this to one of my Trams, to do a 23 to 40 ch conversion and got some great solid information, thanks
So I thought perhaps I mite get lucky and see if I can get my CPI model CP300 23CH mobile SSB converted to a 40 CH like my CPI CP 400 ?
Again as with the D201 to 40 CH conversion, I am not interested in de-facing a collectible American made mobile CB, so this would be a back of the radio-back panel , or external ad on, or internal mod that will allow my friend ( I'm giving the CP300 to my friend, I already have the CP 400 ) so he can have a cool old mobile that will talk on our main ch, ch 38 LSB.
Any ideas, remember this is a mobile so a big old Siltronix VFO sitting on the dash is not quite what I was thinking , lol .
if this kind of mod is out of the question, then he mite just use it as a base, or we can trade it for some other cool old rig that talks on 38 LSB
thanks again.

Steve, I beleive to expand the CPI mobiles (CP300 & CP400) you need to have a special ROM chip put into them.
And I think the conversion gives them 79 channels.
Maybe someone out here has done it, and can explain....

At one time I had (3) CP400's......
(1) of them had been modified for higher channels. And if I remember right, a small board with componants had been added to approx. the center of the main board for the expansion.
