I made Sandbagger's Classic Radio Live feed via skip from South Carolina tonight. : ) I was using the following set-up; 1) Realistic TRC-451 on an Astron RS-7a power supply 2) D-104 desk mic 3) D&A Raider converted to 22jg6a tubes (100 watt dead key) 4) Home made Lazy H wire antenna The Lazy H antenna is actually aimed at the Great Lake states, so I was catching PA off the side of the main lobe. The MP3 recording from Sandbagger's live feed is below. Night Ranger www.shadowstorm.com/mp3s/Night-Ranger-on-the-Classic-Radio-Roundup-Live-Feed.mp3

That way we'll all have a chance to "wave a hand", as they say......

I found a video and audio recorder for my computer, so I can get the signal meter recorded now as well and give myself a signal report. The computer is downstairs and the radio room is upstairs, so I can't see it in real time.
Hmm.....I may have to put up another antenna in your directions, so I can have the best chance of getting in to the round up. Since I took this week off work I have all day to get it done.
: )

P.S. Who is the bonehead that keeps playing the "worldwide, worldwide, worldwide,..etc" recording over and over for minutes at a time. He sounds like a good candidate for a coax cutting. By the time he unkeyed his finals would be toast.

By the time he unkeyed his finals would be toast. Hopefully we'll hear you tonight. I'll either be running my D201, or the Browning. Haven't quite decided yet. It all depends on how hot the skip is and how much audio I'll need to get over it all..... The "Bonehead" is one of our local miscreants, who likes to jam other people's conversations. He's also the same guy who likes to drag a radio, antenna, and car battery out into the middle of the woods (at 900' of elevation) and lock down the channel for days (or until the battery dies). We have some "interesting" people living around here. All that effort, just to screw with other people. It's the main reason I run a beam antenna......

I was not using the extended double zepp wire antenna, so I pointed it at Pennsylvania. I may make something with more gain later. I tried making the live feed a few minutes ago, but I skipped over PA and hit the New York / Canada border.

Sounds like a good reason to organize a 'foxhunt', but with this hunt at least you can 'kill' the 'fox' when you find it.

Sounds like a good reason to organize a 'foxhunt', but with this hunt at least you can 'kill' the 'fox' when you find it. That's the funny part. He's been doing it for the last couple of years now off and on. 25 years ago, I'd have been out in the car (and then on foot) with the handheld and the DF loop at the drop of a hat and would have found it in short order. But nowadays I've got too many other things on my plate and haven't spent much time hunting it down (although I did get a fairly accurate beam heading and, with the aid of Google Earth, narrowed down the area to about a 1/2 mile radius of the spot). A few months back, the last time it was deployed, a couple of guys did look for it based on my heading, and got real close. That was the last time it was on. I guess we got too close......

That figures. Maybe once he gets a few rigs destroyed he'll stop altogether. Maybe not, though. Some people just like to annoy others.

And that pretty much sums up the situation around here. Sadly in a lot of areas that's what is left on the radio.

I guess there was some E-layer skip running last night.......

I guess there was some E-layer skip running last night....... Yes there was. It was not very strong though. I turned my radio off after the F layer skip died out, but I logged in to your server briefly an hour or so later. When I heard skip signals coming in to your live feed I went upstairs and made a few calls on 38 LSB. Someone in PA answered. When I finished with that conversation I dialed down to 21 and made a few skip calls. NY, MA, and PA came back. I did not want to tie up channel 21 too long since I may still be on one or two of your locals sh*t list. he he Too bad there was no sporadic E skip on Wednesday. I had my radio on channel 13 during the first part of the CRR, but it was dead quiet on my end. If you hear skip coming in from the Carolinas or Georgia you can find me on channel 38 LSB. -Night Ranger/South Carolina 116
