You know, I love Brownings as much as the next guy(probably MORE) but some folks got it in their heads that money is no object.. www.ebay.com/itm/BROWNING-GOLDEN-EAGLE-MARK3-AM-SSB-BOX-UPPER-CH-CRYSTAL-MOD-SER-MATCH-BOX-/280793907194?pt=US_CB_Radios&hash=item41609efffa#ht_720wt_698This yokle has several for way past the 9 hundred dollar mark, plus 1 for 1500! Also Trams for close to the same amount. The thing that chokes me is that other folks with Brownings for sale think they can follow suit and price junk the same way. Ebay is a good place to buy vintage equipmment if you shop CAREFULLY. I have always requested a phone number from the seller to discuss the condition of a propective purchase..if they don't give it to me, then I don't bother bidding on their product..Folks like this guy just make it harder to find affordable equipment..Enough of the soapbox now...just one old mud-duck's opinion. ;D

I agree. Since getting back in this hobby several years ago I have paid out the butt for everything that I have bought. Haven't gotten a deal yet off ebay or anywhere for that matter be it a store or someones shop. Either it didn't work or ended up putting more money into the thing than it was ever worth. I've been reamed too, believe me. I wanted to go with some of the old tube stuff and I have paid dearly for that decision. I finally had to buy some solid state equipment just so I would have something that worked when you turned it on. This tram I just sunk 560 in is now driving me nuts. If I could get a 1/4 of my money back from all this stuff I would just walk away and not look back.

I.E. Something is worth what someone else is willing to pay for it. I don't blame sellers for asking ridiculous amounts for their stuff, I blame the idiot who's willing to pay that for it. If someone tries to sell something for way more than it's worth and no one buys it, then the seller has 2 choices, drop the price or enjoy holding on to it.

Now I feel like an idiot. No sense in that...Bagger make good point too...I think its idiocy to ask an un-realistic price and there's always a bozo that will pay it..thats hilarious..I get to think what I want, and get a laugh all at the same time!

There was a followup on that guy a couple years ago. He is a thief! Guy bought a Tram off him and was not the one pictured. After posting all over he got restitution and the bad press dissapeared. He sells and rips then only makes amends with the ones that bad review/bad sale him. Beware and do not even think of dealing with him.

Ya, we have a pretty extensive thread about him over on the Browning Labs site.
I wouldn't purchase from him, not a radio anyway.

If what he "says" is true about the radio, it'll probably flame out some of the caps within a week, not to mention a host of other componets...Most sellers of any rep at all wouldn't accept bids this high on anything, much less a radio from a buyer with no purchase history without requesting that they contact the seller first. I tend to think it's several guys just "jacking" the bids...only a handful of sellers with any feedback bid on it and they fell out around the 500 dollar mark...looks funky to me!

Sold for $960. I need buyers like this if I ever need to sell my equipment. Yea, but you know, I see stuff like this, so I decide "what the heck" and try to sell the same thing, yet I end up getting a fraction of the crazy high price. You can never predict when the crazy spenders will be out there (and you need at least 2). Browning Eagles going for $900, GE Superbases going for $600, TRC-457's going for $500. It's nuts. But it never happens when I'm selling........

I think I paid about $235.00 for my Browning Mark III off of Ebay not including shipping. It worked for about a week, and then a rectifier blew in the receiver. Fortunately it was an easy and cheap fix. I still need to replace the on/off switch in the receiver. I had to hard wire it in the on position until I get around to replacing it. After a full re-align it works fine. Since I was able to repair it myself I am still happy about the purchase. Here is a video of me using the Browning Mark III coming in skip to the Classic Radio Roundup. www.youtube.com/watch?v=UKeh2WTDpOMNight Ranger

I bought the gray channel selector switch for my 201A from him. It wasn't cheap, but I'm glad I did.

It seems odd that this guy superhawk?(i think) can find all of these MK III's that are so clean and perfect? Maybe its the same radio in the pic's every time? I don't remember seeing him sell a radio Tram or Browning for under $875.00. And most are 900 and above. Like PT once said, a sucker is born every minute. LOL!

He's buying them, just read through the feedback. He then claims they came from his inventory from being a Browning dealer.

There are bargains on Ebay, but you gotta shop and talk to the sellers a lot... I got lucky and recently acquired 2 really good buys..78 bucks for a working Tram XL-100 and power supply/modulator...$90.00 for a working Regency Romper with 2 mikes (one of them a G-stand D104). It came with a set of crystals for all 23 channels (1 crystal does tx and recieve) and was exceptionally well cared for (anyone have an extra 4 pin plug for a Regency? ;D)

Ya, I'm not saying you can't find good buys, but you REALLY have to be careful. There are people on Ebay who definitely misrepresent what they are selling.

It's tough, you are talking about radios that are over 30 years old. Usually if it's a bargain there is something wrong.

Yes, I think I am done with ebay. If I can't see it, hear it & touch it. I don't want it.

If some of these bidders would contain their $ with some thought. Maybe the prices would come down to a reasonible amount. Of course some sellers think the items they sell are made of gold. And we have these people who sell junk, and charge you as if it is working. So sad

Can't blame the seller this time. It started off at $10. Two guys are bidding this thing up. So someone will win this and end up paying $300 more than the radio is worth, and in a week or two another one will show up and it'll sell for $50. Such is the nature of E-Bay.

Yep, someone saw the ridiculous porice for the first one and figured they'd unload theirs and hope for a similar crazy high price. But chances are that won't happen. Yea, the Browning and Tram D60's are essentially identical. They were both made by Toshiba.
