Far better than those along the Jersey coast. Damage here was minimal. A bunch of leaves and twigs. Neighbors had a couple of smaller trees uproot, and my back neighbor lost the last two section of his plastic stockade fence. My beam is now tilted about 10 degrees to the west. Power went off about a half dozen times for about 10 seconds each, but otherwise held. But otherwise, I'm breathing a sigh of relief.

I lost an 80 foot plus oak tree. Luckily it didn't hit anything, just blocked my nieghbors driveway (destined for firewood). My up-the-hill antenna is leaning 30 degrees, I lost half of my 160 meter doublet, I guess its now a 40 zepp. I lost power at 9pm monday, and still don't have it. I borrowed a generator yesterday that turned out NOT to work, lost all food in the fridge. Couldn't get out of the road to anywhere, blocked both ways on my street untill 2pm tuesday. No SPEW radio, no remote Kenwood,no internet, certainly no big heavy meatal radios. Battery powered mobile radio only @ 10w pep. I do have heat at least, thank God for the wood stove. I am posting this from work, my link to the outside world for the timebeing.

Art's power was out for the whole day on Tuesday, but is now back. My drive to work today was strange. A few roads detoured due to fallen trees, half of the normal traffic lights were out, many dark areas. Even one of our complex of office buildings is without power (How does THAT happen with underground service?). Looks like it'll be "mud duck" night on CRR. Don't know if the tilt in my beam will have any adverse affect on my signal. I'm sure it would be great if I was talking skywave to Europe..... I'm just glad I don't live on the Jersey coast........

Our power went out about 9:30 on Monday, and we still don't have it back yet.
Sorry to hear others didn't fair well, hopefully we'll all get back to normal soon.

I think the eye went right over us. Wind was so intense here after the eye passed! We were on the air talking about "that it wasn't that bad" for about 20 minutes then all hell broke loose. Two BIG 100' oaks down in the back with 10' root balls in the air. Luckily they fell away from the house.
Got my coax pulled out of the connector on my IMAX due to loose electrician wiring methods (mine). Soldered up a new connector and I'm back on the base.
Power is still out here as of 4:30 PM Wednesday. 2K genny is runnin' the TV ect and we're takin' showers in the fancy camper for now. Looks like I'll be a 12 Volt deep cycle snake in the grass tonight as well ;D

My only damage was that my Spectrum 1600 twisted on it's mast a little bit with the high winds. It is a simple 2 minute fix thankfully and no physical damage was done.

Now to wait and see what lurks for next week! Glad you made it through okay, Grumpy. We are still without power, and apparently without any gasoline in NJ either. As for next week, I heard we may have some winter weather moving in. I'll be spending the weekend cleaning up the rest of the yard that I haven't done yet (got out all the big stuff the last few days) but as long as they restore my power I'll make it through. This storm as been a real torture test for my generator.

Well, it was a trying week. It is all past now except antenna repair. Maybe it's time for the rhombic project. Power and internet are back and so is Spew Radio III.
Dr. Hammer: remote is up!
