Added a couple of classic Metrotek rigs to the collection after hearing how good Spitfire's Metrotek Pacer sounded on air. The top unit is a Pacer II that works. The bottom unit is a Metrocomet. I have never seen one of these before. This unit worked after I exchanged a few tubes from the Pacer II. They are very similar in circuit design with some of the exceptions being the 1963? vintage Metrocomet uses a vibrator for 12 VDC use and has larger crystals inside. I read somewhere that Regency took over Metrotek in 1965. [/img] .

For some reason I am having problems loading photos from Image shack. Sometimes they load and sometimes they don't ?? Not sure if I should be using the direct links or the forum code.

1st post was using "forum code" but it only linked to 2 of the three is was trying to post. 2nd post was using the "direct" link method and came out real well with a nice size photo. Tried to redo the 1st two as direct links and they would not post. I should be able to preview the post with the photos yes-no? It's intermittent. Is there something I'm doing wrong?
Thanks for looking.

My shack is a refuge for wayward and forgotten radios.
Home of the dented, scratched and mal-aligned rigs.
Missing knobs-no problem, RS has them.
Various bug carcases in there, nothing the vacuum won't cure.
Been in the basement for 20 years, better yet because the paper caps haven't dried out yet.
Crooked stickers all over the face...not an issue as long as there's one for the Ch 13 crystal. ;D

What a nice looking radio! Like a fine piece of furniture. They seem to be similar on the inside from year to year. I passed on one of those on the bay because most of the silk screen letters and number were obliterated by an over-zealous cleaning Here's a re-post of my fraternal Metrotek twins:

What does the "Meter" knob do on yours?
Is that Turner mic married (hard wired) to the radio or is there a mic jack on the rig?

thank you on the compliments on the radio, it always didnt look that way. Someone long ago put that ribbon tape like you see on the crystal in the pic, for a month I carefully peeled all the stuff off and was suprised how well it looked. The mic is on a mic plug, its the most complete spacestation I have ever seen, I saw that one on ebay and it did look rough. There might only be less the a 100 left in existence probaly less then that I was lucky mine literally fell into my lap but I paid $250 for it.
