Let me start off by saying this rig has had the "Wilson" 11 meter conversion and works wonderfully there. I tried my FT101EE on 10 meters 28.4120 Mhz with out success so I opened it up to check the crystals.
Does anyone know if changing crystals was part of the 11 meter conversion besides the swap of the CW filter? To get mine on 11 meters I simply set the band selector to the "11" position and set the mode to AM.
One obvious omission is the lack of a 34.520 Mhz crystal in the 10B band crystal socket X7. So that may explain why I don't have the 10B 10 meter band.
The 10A band crystal socket X6 has a 33.520 Mhz crystal in it where as the manual says it should be a 34.020 Mhz crystal.
The 10C band crystal socket X8 has a 32.020 Mhz crystal in it where as the manual says it should have a 35.020 Mhz crystal. (Almost like someone mis-read the numbers)
The 10D band crystal socket has the correct 35.52 Mhz crystal in it so I need to verify that at least the upper 10 meter frequencies are okay.
I like being able to use this rig for 11 Meters, but now since I have the ticket to go on 10 meters it would be nice to use it there.
Do you think it's as simple as obtaining the correct and missing crystals or is the "Wilson 11 Meter" modification" one that took out 10 meters on the rig. I thought that the "Wilson 11 Meter" modification was one of the better ways to get it on 11 meters with it's addition of the better filter in place of the CW. I'm not concerned about the lack of CW at this time.
Thanks.
