I just bought a Uniden Washington and it needs a meter light. Can anyone tell me what size light it is and where I can get one. If I would change it to an led is there anything else I would have to do to install it?
Also I hooked it up in the house with my truck mag. mount Wilson 1000 antenna sitting in the floor and turned it on and am works and usb works but lsb does not move the meter. Knowing that how bad is the radio and will it take much to fix it? Not much to go on I know but best guess will do. I paid 50.99 plus shipping. Did I get screwed?

Once upon a time, Radio Shack carried small 12V bulbs which would normally fit fine in those applications. Haven't been in need of one in a while, so I don't know if this is still the case, but you could check. As for LSB not functioning, there is little that is not common between USB and LSB. Most likely problem areas would be the LSB carrier oscillator or LSB mixer oscillator. It should not be a difficult problem for a decent troubleshooter to find and fix. The Washington is a decent radio and $50 is not too much for something like that. But I would try to put up a better antenna....

We had a house fire back in Dec. and have not got around to get an antenna up yet. We are going to put up a Maco v-58.
When I key up and try to modulate in the mic. on LSB nothing happens. On AM and USB I do the same thing and the meter jumps most of the way up the scale.

It works, You didn't get screwed. Don't transmit on that antenna until you know what the SWR's are. If you don't have a watt/swr meter. Get one. It will save you a lot of issues otherwise.

you better check SWR as I bet you are real high. I run a dipole that doesn't need ground; but you do with that setup.

Like everyone says get the SWR on the antenna, work from there. I run dipoles and just work DX. I wish I could have an antenna on the roof but my wife don't want it.
