Had almost a full day of conditions from Kansas to PA today...The "Pipeline" was flowing well..We started the morning on the mighty SBE Trinidad acquired from Skeeter right there in Pottstown last spring... Here's 441 putting the needle up in the "9's" on the Trinidad...He posted the videogate on his YOUTUBE channel! Here's a couple of pics of my FREE Yeasu FT101EX acquired from my longtime friend 976 in Wichita, KS....talking to 44 Dave.. Currently, I have to use an external reciever with the Yeasu, as there is an overload issue in it's reciever...fortunately, this radio has an option for that. The transmit has ZERO issues and works quite well on AM as well as SSB...Physical appearence is a strong 9 as it's in really good shape cosmetically..(The "wrinkle" on the faceplate is the plastic that still covers it from when it was new.)

Here is the video gate to go along with that. My Multi Elmac AF 67 transmitter and Hallicrafters R 274D receiver.

Doc it was great to talk to ya from my mud-duck-pick-up-truck via the Stryker 497 when I was in the Jersey Pine Barrens the other day.
Keep up the good work!

I played in that sandbox last cycle and had some fun DX qso's on FM using a President Jackson. This time around I am having a blast on 10 meters AM with classic tube radios. Today there were tons of AM stations on from 29 to 29.1 mHz. Germany, Poland, Wales Scotland, Finland, Norway, Netherlands, Belgium. What fun I had this morning on my Multi Elmac AF 67 16watt radio. Skip was in pretty decent today from PA at times....We alternated between the Browning and one of my other favorite old-timers...the Mighty Johnson 223 Messenger...I'll be using it on the round-up this evening...

No problem 235, you got a great sounding station...always a pleasure when I get to work my friends up in the Keystone via Mother Nature instead of using the link on 441's Kenwood!.

Today was another good skip day...actually had a solid hour in the Keystone on my "Dirty" 5 dollar Tram. I've been inside and cleaned, some repaired cold solder joints,(from age, I'll bet)...no alignment needed ...13 registered 27.115.25. Someone had it tuned right. The recieve is incredibly like the D-60 I have.. and it's got a great ANL... Bought it for the microphone...LOL at a community yard sale/fleemarket.. Has a differnt type of chassis with support in the center of the board, along with edge supports...stout construction for a radio costing 179 bucks back in the day...Their ad campaigne for this radio boasted the words:"Now everyone can own a Tram" These are identical to the Browning "Brownie". The face will clean up nice. I like these Toshiba built rigs. The meter is tight on this radio, but there isn't a lot of adjust...either it pegs or barely moves so I took a best guess on calibration..Here's 775 putting a LOUD 7 with fidelity to match. That STRYKER sounds like a million bucks!

That STRYKER sounds like a million bucks! The Tram XL (like the Browning Brownie) was made by Toshiba, so, despite the lack of many basic features, the performance is pretty good. One noticeable difference between the Tram and Browning versions of this radio is in modulation limiting. The Tram version has an active modulation limiter, while the Browning does not (the silkscreen for the parts are all marked on the board, but the parts are missing). So out of the box, the Browning will be "louder", but the Tram is cleaner.

As good as this radio sounds, (I listened to the SPEW Radio feed) I'm not touching the limiter. Why mess with a good thing! ;D

Had almost a full day of conditions from Kansas to PA today...The "Pipeline" was flowing well.. And yet another day of good Pa. to Kansas pipelines. I was beginning to give up on making the trip to you from my mobile today (Friday). I could hear you talking to Night Train, Wonder-boy and Operator Ron, but the skip level was way too high for me to hear them. I was about 35 miles east of my home area, and all I heard was you. I called you for several minutes before you finally came back, and I was beginning to think my truck can only make long distance direct shots. On a humorous note, when I signed with you and went into the auto parts store, the guy at the counter informed me that he heard my conversation with you over their audio system. I had deliberately parked away from the building hoping to avoid that, but evidently not far enough. When I told him that I was talking to a buddy in Kansas, he said "Oh, you must have some juice in that truck". I said "Yea, maybe a little...."

I have that issue when I sit outside my church. My pastor came out and asked who thumper and kato were because we were bleeding through his radio in his office (which was turned off by the way). KATO808 #DeepInTheHeartOfTexas
