Hi sandbagger,
I tried there and other places online with no luck, not even mods.dk has it and they have quite a few heatkit manuals and schematics. Guess I am going to have to buy the service info and schematic from Just Radios. Thanks for trying!
I had this radio given to me by a friend who was cleaning out his attic and found a trunk with a bunch of his late grandfather's ham and cb stuff. He gave me a box full of items and the GW-14 was the first thing that caught my eye. except for the missing power cord and no manual, it is cosmetically in near new condition. Evidently his grandfather was a big kit builder during Heathkit's heyday.
There was also a Heathkit V-7A VTVM with all of the test leads and probes, a Heathkit Resistor Substitution Box and a Cobra 29LTDWX Classic that needs the vol/switch pot and channel display replaced to make it work properly.
Still more in the box to go through and who knows what I will find.

It doesn't even employ a crystal synthesizer, you actually have 46 crystals in it to get all 23 channels. But it was marketed as a kit, and even with the FCC's loose rules back then, I guess they had to keep it as simple as possible to construct within the rules. I had a ham co-worker of mine who built one many years back. I was always intrigued by the Turner M+2 style microphone that it came with. I wonder what type of element it used.....
