My mud-duck-pick-up-truck blew the speaker in the Stryker 497 CB radio. It didn't fail all the way and was only noticeably distorted at lower listening levels. Since the Diesel is a bit loud, I ran the volume most of the way up anyway. If I was just sitting there with the engine off trying to listen to the CB at lower levels, it became annoying.
I found there is not much in the way of choice when it came to replacement CB radio speakers partly due to the reduced size of the frame and magnet structure required to clear the main PC board.
Opened up some old CB radios and external speakers that where laying around but they were all 4". I really didn't want to run a separate external speaker just due to the fact I don't want to see it. I bet I could spend a few more bucks and find a better sounding 3.5" replacement from a Yaesu/Kenwood/Icom HF radio. Or maybe run the external speaker cable on the Stryker CB to the Aux Line level input on the Stereo Head unit (although I may need to pad it and even then I couldn't listen to the FM radio and CB at the same time)
For now I just ordered a Plain Jane 3.5" CB speaker from Barkett along with some new 2950 rubber keypads.

At least you knew where to get some Parts you also needed besides the Speaker... I considered this Product, which Mutes the Stereo when the CB / HAM Radio Receives a Signal, it uses the Vehicles existing Speaker(s) requiring No Additional Speakers... Then thought on the Truckers' Channel(s), there is Seldom ANY Silence Then I Wondered about the Trucker with 12 Pill Box he uses to Talk to the Truck in Front of His Bumper ,possibly causing Damage to the Interrupter I then never Bothered to Do any Additional Research... Other Possible Manufacturers ? Etc., Etc... audiointerrupt.com/

Yeah the Stryker radios are supposed to have front end protection or as they call it, "Up Armour" or something, for exposure to high levels of RF at truck stops.
The original speaker's stamped frame was so flimsy I could bend it in one hand. Almost like the cheap speakers that come inside the musical greeting cards. The new 3.5" speaker fit perfectly using the stock frame clamps and sounds okay. Thanks Mr. Barkett.
I still need a few more of the 2950 style rubber keypads, but either it wouldn't let me order more than two or I got the last two he had.
