ok had a micro burst hit my area and it took my ground plane tower and antenna and twisted them into a mess.. the jo gunn 6 star on my other tower the jo gunn was stripped of most of its elelaments with the main boom twisted alittle.. the tower is ok.. the storm took alot of trees down here in my 4 block area.. so now im looking for a new ground plane, money is not a bother, insyrance you no.... but need strong wind resistance, lol, and a 5k matching system.. figured id go back with just a g/p on the beam tower as its a crank up and esay to work?? wood like to have some in put on you alls experance with the different types of g/ps you use or have had some experance with?? all input will be greatfully looked at.. big thanks

Bummer dude. Super sorry to hear about the storm damage. I like my Sirio 2016 vertical antenna rated at 3K intermittant. It's performance is better than the Imax I had up and I would bet, although I sure others will disagree, its equal to almost any vertical with full sized radials. The (16) 1/4" solid aluminum rod ground radials have a very small footprint so there is less wind load overall. It hears really well and gets out pretty darn good I'm also a fan of retractable antenna towers and have a yet-to-be erected Hygain 52SS that I got from Spitfire. Its only rated for 50 MPH though but I have tress all around to help lower ground winds. Here is a company that makes Extra Extra Heavy Duty retractable antenna towers. If I had the funds Id go for one of these with the assumption that it would hopefully withstand a thunderstorm when extended. Also assuming that I would have enough early warning to fully retract it if a Hurricane was coming up the east coast. www.alumatower.com/towers-telescoping-mast-systems/self-supporting-antenna-towers/www.alumatower.com/towers-telescoping-mast-systems/telescopic-antenna-towers/

For wind resistance, I'd look at the Interceptor I-10K, which is rated for '100+ mph' (according to their website). It's a bit pricey, but it holds up great. I've had one for years. They are supposedly taking orders again. Bandwidth is 1.4 MHz, so its broad-banded. Rated power is 10,000 watts. www.a1antennas.com/You can also look at the ZeroFive Colossal 5K antenna, rated for 100 mph winds. Cost is $299 plus delivery. Rated power is 5,000 watts, but bandwidth is only 500 KHz. www.zerofive-antennas.com/1011-meter-58-wave-colossal-5k-groundplane-vertical-antennaAlthough it has a lower win rating (80 mph), the Hygain SPT (Super Penetrator)is also a good choice, and at $149.95 is also a rather good deal. I couldn't fin a published bandwidth, but assume at least 500 KHz. Rated power is 1,500 watts. www.hy-gain.com/Product.php?productid=SPT-500Finally, there is the Mr. Coily Excalibur. Also pricey at $500, it was a wind rating of 100 mph and Coily claims to get a 2 MHz bandwith with a 2.0 SWR curve. Rated power is 5,000 watts. www.mrcoily.com/

thanks for the input, but im looking at these antennas, let me no your choice or thoughts.. schockwave , 10k, or mr coily..with the wind rateing i figured one of these mite be the best.. ive gone thru 2 maco 5/8s, and the wind here has got both of them, so they are out of the thinking.. thanks to all for the input..
