Couldn't find my previous version of this mod, so here it is again. This is the simplest method I could contrive to "lock" the clarifier's transmit and receive frequencies together for the Uniden-made 4-pin SSB radios with the uPD858 PLL from 1977 and 1978 or so. First, remove R119 and D30. Be nice to R119. It gets strung across two pads on the solder side of the pc board. The skinny trace at the left end of the resistor has steady 8 Volts DC on it. The trace at the right end of the resistor has the brown wire with the white stripe on it. Here is a wider view of the closeup detail above. This won't stretch the range of the clarifier. It will cover the same range as before, but now you'll be transmitting on the same frequency where you're receiving. 73
