Found one......You guys all thought I was crazy! It has to rank as one of the rarest radios out there...only the second one I've ever seen...I'm all in on this one.

Found one......You guys all thought I was crazy! It has to rank as one of the rarest radios out there...only the second one I've ever seen...I'm all in on this one. I never doubted that there were 40 channel Console II's, just as I've seen 40 channel Cobra 139's (not the XLR), and other 23's with a 40 channel dial. There were kits made that replaced the 23 channel switch with a 40 channel switch, and included the necessary extra crystals for full 40 channel operation, much like the Tram D201a does. PLL rigs were even easier, as they usually only needed to change the selector switch. But they didn't leave the factory that way. They were modified in the aftermarket (not FCC legal either, as the radio did not meet the tighter specs for type acceptance).
