I have one of the old Uniden Washington radios I have always wanted. I got it off ebay. I dont think it has been tinkered with in any way. I just took it outside ndd hooked it up tp my mobile antenna and keyed it in am and it worked. Upper sideband and I thinked worked, the meter moved ay up the meter like on am. But when I moved it to lower sideband the needle didn't move and couldn't hardly hear any static. What should I be doing with it. I have no tech's in my area. Have been wanting to put a 10 kc slider in or what ever it is called. Going to get new antenna put up next year after the first of the year. Retiree and money is tight. Is it even worth putting money in it cause what it is. It's in very good condition. Would like to get a cheap ham radio but passing the test for the license is another thing. Just don't know my next step.

Just don't know my next step. If the radio works on AM and USB, but not LSB, that sounds like it could be a bad carrier oscillator crystal. That should not be a big deal to correct. I would not bother with the 10KC slide. It's pointless on a PLL rig that can generate channels every 10KC. The most your clarifier needs to slide is +/- 5 Khz. Any more than that and it gets more touchy to tune people in.
