I'm looking for a couple things for/about this radio (CB Tricks doesn't have anything): A copy of the owner's manual An idea of what type crystals it uses for the scanner part, and where to order 'em. I've seen some material that sez the scanner will cover "Low & High" bands which I believe to mean 30-50MHz and 150-170MHz, but I don't have any documentation to verify those ranges nor where to order the crystals. If the range is correct it'll cover the WX band, as well, if possible I'd like to plug a few 2m crystals into it (if it'll go below 150). TIA, Woody

Not too many of them around, so therefore information on them is like hen's teeth. I've also heard that the scanner is a "Hi/LO" design, but no idea who made the scanner, whether it was an NDI design or some other. Most old crystal scanners (with the notable exception of Bearcat) used a 10.7 Mhz I.F. so figuring out the crystals should be similar to Regency or other popular scanners back in the day, assuming the SBE uses the same I.F.. If you have some old scanner crystals lying around pop one in and see if you can receive anything on it. If you have the capability to generate a signal (or transmit with an "expanded" HT) on the frequency of the crystal then see if you can receive it.

I think that ship has sailed. There must be a million old-stock scanner crystals out there. But which rock to turn over for the one you want? Ken's maybe? Haven't tried him for that item yet. 73

Thanks guys. I figured the owners manual would be unobtanium, but I finally located my SAMS CB-51 which has 41 pages on the beast (10.7MHz in the scanner). My current Super Console is buried under more things than I'd care to lift at the moment, but I have another one arriving in a few days so I'll take a peak inside that one (maybe this one will have some crystals ) Woody
