Paid $162 for a President Washington CB radio on eBay. Picture only showed the front and looked ok. Arrived and radio is close to mint. No nicks on top front plastic bezel. Works perfect. Someone installed extra channels and radio is peaked for AM modulation producing 5 watts and swinging to 16 watts. All I have to do is replace the weak 2SC1419, two power supply capacitors , tantalum 2.2uF capacitor next to transmit transistor, two 470uF and two 1000uF capacitors on main board.
The President Washington and Uniden Washington are highly desirable due to the receiver is very quiet with clear audio, the noise blanker does not add distortion and the radio will swing to 16 watts providing 100% modulation. Most sell for twice what I paid in same cosmetic condition.
Update- radio failed. 'Tossed in towel', bought new President McKinley and Galaxy DX- 959 CB for SSB use. Will keep best one of the two. RCA CO-PILOT base is main AM base here.
