Looking at the schematic of the 201 handwired trying to determine which caps or resistors could be changed to lessen the effect of the ANL. Thinking maybe C435 or C437? Any suggestions appreciated.

The ANL diode is D403. The 'off' switch simply shorts across the diode to turn of the ANL. Makes that control backwards. ANL is off when the switch closes, and it's on when the switch is open.
The later circuit-board D201s placed a 2 Megohm pot in parallel with D403 to make it variable. And if you find a 'sweet spot' resistance value that provides the sound you want, a fixed resistor and a SPST switch in series with it would get you a high/low ANL control.
