Anyone know where I can get the schematics and service information for this radio. The radio was modified and is off frequency now.

The information that you need should be found on CB Tricks. you can bring that up on the internet.

Unfortunately, the guy who imports the "General"-brand radios does not pay the additional cost of having service data printed, or imported. Since it came from the same RCI factory that supplies other brand names, you can get by with the service data for the Galaxy DX-88 mobile. This only covers the main radio pc board, but the alignment instructions should match the Stonewall. The linear and power supply on the back should be a match for the original RCI-2990 radio, NOT the "DX" version. The main pc board is the EPT3600-14B, most likely. Same as the Galaxy Saturn radios, and the older Galaxy DX-88. But a complete service manual that shows where every wire and control are hooked up does not exist. The Galaxy and RCi models will be a good guide, but there will be minor differences in the choice of controls on the front panel. The power supply is famous for being suicidal. If you are also signed up at the Quack Shack forum, there is a step-by-step procedure for suicide prevention on this radio's power supply there. I'd post it here, but there are just too many pictures to post them in thumbnail form. Gets tedious clicking on each image in turn just to see the full detail. Here's a link to the post. You may need to sign up there to see it. thequackshack.com/index.php?showtopic=18304&hl=Stonewall73

2600, I have been looking at these radios pretty seriously for a daily use base, so what do you recommend? This will be a brand new radio. I was hoping for a no issues day to day user. Any recommendations? Yay or Nay?

No big deal, just do the suicide-intervention and put a fan on the heat sink.
Once that's done, you should get good service from it.
But if you just put the thing in line, the breakdown problems are pretty likely, unless you "baby" the transmitter and never key it for long.
It's not a bad radio. But there are issues with the way they build it.
And why they can't do a few simple things right at the factory is still a mystery to me.
Could be that I'm confusing the word "can't" with the word "won't".
Now, if they would take the much-improved DX-2517 radio, and put the big power supply/linear on the back panel, you'd really have something.
But that is a combination that has never been offered for sale. The Stonewall is a Galaxy Saturn with a big power supply and linear on it, NOT a 2517.

So, are you saying that a 2517 with a linear would be better choice, from a quality standpoint, right out of the box?

Yes sir. That's exactly what I'm saying, so long as the linear's quality level is decent. The receiver in the 2517 is a cut above the Stonewall, and the frequency stability is better. You may need to loosen a driver, or final, or modulator transistor and add some heat-sink compound where the factory got stingy with it, and then tighten the part back down to the heat sink. The 2517 will often also have this problem with the final-assembly quality. If you see an air gap under one of the white insulating washers, that gap is supposed to be filled with that compound. An air gap won't carry heat from the component to the heat-sink surface. The white heat-conducting compound is meant to do that. Like this: But it's not so big a production as what's needed to stave off suicide in a Stonewall. Not nearly. 73

ok i just traded for one of these radios. i've own one before a few years back,it worked good. this one seems to have a problem. i notice there no deadkey with the power turned all the way down. i took the cover off and cant seem to get the low power adj. to work at all either. i'm not sure where to look to fix it.

Are you sure that you are adjusting the low power setting and not the CW tone? If I remember correctly, the low power setting in on the board with the switches on the left side of the radio.
