Does anybody know where I can find one of these? Web searching hasn't turned up anything for me. I have a Uniden PC122 that I am trying to fix up, as I have a small vehicle with limited space and this happens to be the smallest 40-channel sideband mobile I've found yet. The problem is that when the skip is real bad I use .505 LSB to talk locally, and the PC122's chip can't be jumped, so you have to swap in the 2816 to get extra channels. Thanks for any help!

Thanks for the tip! I'm constantly amazed at the stuff that can be found on that site. Unfortunately they have that listed as "OS" (out of stock). So I guess the search continues. I'm figuring that besides finding someone who has these, a bigger problem might be finding someone who will sell in quantities of less than a hundred. You'd think that with as many radios as there are which could use this chip, that most radio shops would stock them......... Guess not.

It seems to me that installing an Expo expander kit would be a lot easier. Your radio takes the "N" kit.

It might be easier, but the chip swap will be a whole lot cheaper. And I'm a poor SOB, so I'm looking for the chip. I'd actually like to find two of these, as the Uniden AR144 that I'm looking to sell also needs this chip.

Trying to talk to Ken on the phone is about like trying to pull teeth. That guy has the oddest phone manners i've ever seen.... What an odd duck!
