Got it up today with a little more adjustment to the tap location. It is as high as I can put it until I purchase a better mast system. Will you post the performance results? and can they be un-biased results because you designed and built the antenna?

Will you post the performance results? and can they be un-biased results because you designed and built the antenna? Will do my best to tell the truth about what happens. In other places I've told the whole story of the building, reports, wind damage break down, rebuild, and hopeful positive results. (took a little time to get my application to join approved here) I'll keep you informed.

T-storms through the night last night. Winds 12 mph, gusts to 20 mph with potential winds to 50 mph. Don't know what the wind got to, but it was a humdinger for a while. Antenna is standing straight up this AM and SWR still sitting like it's supposed to: unmoved. So good so far.
The previous physical design would have failed. It did twice under these same conditions.
A little time, and a little testing for reports. Hopeful for DX soon.

Very impressed, what performance do you get out of the 3 element beam???, and what do you have the elements mounted on..

Very impressed, what performance do you get out of the 3 element beam???, and what do you have the elements mounted on.. DOCTOR/795 The beam was up where the 5/8 wave currently is. The construction materials were fence top rail boom, electrical conduit tubing (emt), and the joints done in schedule 40 PVC. The match was a 1/4 wave 75ohm doubled Q-section. I decided it was too heavy to withstand the strong winds occurring here, so it's back down until I can get aluminum tubing to redo it. No DX so no distance reports were forthcoming for the 12 hrs I had it up. A few locals reported good signal and audio, and there was enough rejection to make an irritable local person go down from eight s-units to 3 s-units on a base 3 miles north of me. I have no rotor, so the Beam will have to prove worth any invetment in a stouter mast and rotor cost before it's a keeper. Wish I had better info for you.

Re: 5/8 wave - April 19It seems when there's a little skip I am away from the shack. Worked all day until the limited DX was slipping away. Managed to make a contact with 101 Al in Southwest Florida, a brief acknowledgment from a Jamaican station, and a failed effort to communicate with a Mexican amigo. No comprende'. Ya know the drill. A little local AM and SSB out to about forty miles north over the Ozarks into Southwestern Missouri, and a little conversation to the south and southwest of me. Both gave clear audio, and signal reports. (Due to having too light a mast for my antennas, I mount it only 26' in the air. Hope to get it up higher soon) I was mostly ineffective trying to rope a little intermittent skip all over the frequencies. Just poor conditions by the time I got home. April 21Enjoyed completely hearing CA300 Smitty and WT286 World Radio John, out of San Diego in Northwest Arkansas. Tried to get to them, but couldn't get in. Maybe next time... 27.385 LSB Lamplighter aka The Country Preacher LD183 Northwest Arkansas Made a pleasant and solid contact with Wile E Coyote/unit 505 out of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Bombero/383 also. Enjoyed the chat. 27.355 is being kind to the Country Preacher tonight. Additional contact with 4270. It's good in NW Arkansas. Other unrecorded contacts made with stations to the north as well over the last few days.

I have for antennas only my 5/8 wave homebrew @ 26' to feed point, and my 3 element homebrew Yagi @ 11' horizontal. I made many contacts mostly on the beam tonight between 8:00 and 9:00 PM.
For the last hour I had many contacts here in NW Arkansas. Among them:
221 ---- Skipshooter 999 ---- in the Carolinas 305 ---- S.Carolina Agitator ---- in the cornfields 152 ---- Ontario, Canada 955 ---- Ontario, Cananda 127 ---- Ohio Dbl"O" ---- SW Michigan
