bought my "cobra 29" 6 weeks ago ....works great. im heard very clearly here in ny/nj area. thinking of selling my mobil setup but only ((AFTER))..... i would sell and get the...."pc78elite" radio by uniden ....1st to try and compare. (((( which would YOU rather use if you had both radios? )))) COBRA 29 NW ST UNIDEN PC78ELITE with shipping, upgrade of antenna, tune ,peak, align and gas to get to cb shop which was a haul...im like up to $115...which isnt bad considering it works GREAT. took couple weeks to get radio & antenna from ebay...not easy to win stuff cheap, thats y i wouldnt sell my setup till ive tried both units (radios). what im lQQking 4 now is the wilson 1000......cheapest with shipping new is $70....maaaybe.

I can't see any appreciable gains in going to a PC78.
If you're going to spend more money to fix something that ain't broke, why not just add the RFX-75 to the Cobra 29? I'll personally guarantee you gains there.
As for the W1000, going price in the local shops with the magmount is in the neighborhood of $85 with tax.

Keep the cobra, put the amp the other suggested, and you have 65 watts out then. No on the Uniden, you can buy a used multimode radio for that. Wilson mag 1000 great antenna. Try Sparkys in Ill, on the web, ask him about the amp and install...
I forgot, I wouldnt buy on ebay..over priced all the way.

Actually, the 29 will do a bit better than that with the RFX-75. 125 peak audio (not whistle) on my Autek WM1. Excellent reports with this relatively cheap little chunk of dynamite.
