A friend of mine recently bought a mk III which had a very short ping . he brought it over to me to put in a bigger ping cap. I opened it up and found a 80mfd 450v cap in it . thought it must be a bad cap but things looked out of place. got to checking and found the cap hooked in the wrong place and a resistor (2.2k ohm ) bad . put the cap where it was supposed to go and replaced the resistor but still have a very short ping . tried several different caps with no change.I think i need some help here or any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Did you try a larger value cap like 100 mfd?

If the transmitter audio is weak for one or more reasons, this can also shorten the ping.
There is a 100k 1-Watt resistor in the receiver that changes resistance with age and mileage. It's R54 on the schematic.
Can't find a picture right now. If the 'low' side of this resistor is much above or below 50 Volts, this can shorten the ping, too.
