I'm looking to get a little better reception, on a temporary basis (less than a year)...figured I'd just take a piece of coax into the attic and run a bare wire from it for a length. But then I got thinking...
My question is this: does an antenna for receive-only require a counterpoise? If I string up this antenna, will I need to make it into a dipole??
And I'm not targeting any specific frequency, just whatever it picks up. Depending on the configuration, the length will be between 20 to 30 feet long. I intend to use all RG-6QS, two or three specific pieces...one for the feedline, one for the "antenna", and another (if needed) for the counterpoise. Sorta like a "double bazooka" is built using the outer braids as the wire.
Do I need the counterpoise?
