I am restoring my grandfathers old Lafayette CB and it works great on RX but on TX i have noticed it only puts out like a watt or so. I had to wire up a spare D 104(i bypassed the audio board and wired the mic element straight to the socket) to it to have a mic and the TX audio is very loud! its a neat old rig but i need to find out why it only transmits 1 watt. What type of final tube does it use?

Great radio! That was my very first base station. See if you can find a Sam's Fotofacts Volume #1. And I'd love to see some photos of that rig once you get it restored!

It is a really sweet old rig! I can send you some pics of it now. It is all cleaned up and looking good.

I'd be really interested. I did find a picture a few years ago of one that looked just like mine:

I'm not sure what final output tube that rig uses but the one that's in the radio could be weak. There should be trimmers for the final output on the back panel of the radio. Did you peak these for max output?

Im still only getting 1/2 a watt out. yes it has flush to talk. The noise limiter on mine is on a knob up near the crystal sockets.

Did you try hosting the photos ate a place like ImageShack? I always host the photos and then just put the picture link in to display them.

Any site works well, some are nicer as they let you actually resize the photos if you need to.
