Around these parts, there are only two busy base station channels anymore. Channel 23, & 26.865. Most of my radio are 23 channel crystal radios. I like to remove the crystal for channel 1-4, & replace it with .865-.905. ..I can go just one click from 23, to .865 (CH-1 position). Every Regency radio I've ever seen has a stop between Channel 23 & 1. I have to turn the selector all the back to channel 1. My question is, can this stop possibly be defeated? Thanks, .. I was just wondering.

I was just wondering. Funny that in a situation where there are only two groups of locals operating on an otherwise quiet band, that there would be a need to go out of band. My Hy-Gain 623 had a metal stop that kept the dial from spining completely around. I found that very annoying, so I bent it out of the way with a set of pliers. The interesting thing is what showed up in the blank spot, which was now accessable. Not 22A, like you might think, but 19A. Go figure. But this is a PLL radio, so anything's possible. You could probably bend a similar stop out of the way in the Regency. Don't know what you might get (if anything) in the blank spot though.......

These guys on .865 have been embeded there since the big sunspot cycle of 1979! Channel 23 is a lousy, noisy channel! ..The old class "C". ..Next to the ch.26 super bowl. ..People say "go up 2", when they are actually 10kc's below you, bleeding the the crap out of you.. People are just creatures of habit.
I'm going the get out the pliers, & try to fix the old Regency! .. You're right, the old Utopia stopped after ch. 23 too.

crazybob, around here we have only one active frequency and it's below channel one. Except for channel 10 where truckers communicate with a scale house so I try to stay out of their way. Channel 19 is mostly dead. I modify all of the rigs that I use to go out of band. That way I have more frequencys to use when skip conditions are good.
