Nice radio!
I'm not sure where you can get a microphone plug for the rig, but if you do, this is the wiring for it:
Astatic TUG-8 stand to Lafayette HE 20C:
Set switch in base of microphone to R (relay)
Pin 1 - Red Pin 2 - Shield Pin 3 - White Pin 4 - Black
Astatic TUG-9/TUP-9 stand to Lafayette HE 20C:
Pin 1 - Red Pin 2 - Shield Pin 3 - White Pin 4 - Blue
If you can't find the microphone plug, I'd consider changing the current plug to a Cobra style. You can always find them.
Good luck, let us know how it works out.

I can't remember if that radio takes the large Amphenol plug, I have a couple of those but they're three pin. There was a smaller diameter plug that has a tin housing or shell. I have a couple of those too but they are also three pin. If I could see what plug it actually is my plug drawer might contain it? But all of this is of no use to you. The easiest thing for you is like cbrown says, change to a Cobra style and be done with it.

im very tempted to do just that. someone said that the old Lafayette rigs have voltage at the plug.

I got this rig off of Ebay sold as NOT WORKING. I originally got it for the crystals for my HE 15 but hey the rig works and id like to get it on the air! The RX in this old rig sounds soooo smooth and clear as well as very sensitive.

As in "it was working, but must have gotten damaged during shipment." I bought an old radio like that once, and got that excuse. Apparently the shipper also had time to cut wires and drill holes in the case...

As i type i ahve the old rig turned on. It sounds soooo good on receive. Very pleasant to listen to. I think it might be a dual conversion rig just by how good the receiver sounds. Yes the lady sold it as non working for parts only, and thats what I got it for is for the crystals for the HE 15! LOL But now i dont want to part it out since it works so well. I got a 5 pin chassis mount male plug from my radio shop i took my Mav 250 to today. I just need to do some metal work to the front of the rig to get the plug to fit. The stock mic hole is too large.

Some of the 5 pin sockets are a bit small, that is why I recommended looking at the Cobra 4 pin types.

Well i got some 5 pin Lafayette plugs coming from Kens Electronics in Michigan. I want to keep the rig as original as possible. Its just too sweet of an ol' girl to butcher up. I have another old Lafayette rig coming off of Ebay here in a week or so. This one might need some TLC to get it up and running though.

It's better to keep the radio as it was when it came from the factory, but there are cases where you have to change things (parts no longer made, etc). Let us know what radio you got!
