Has anyone on here ever Stack a set of Laser 400 beams, I have two and I'm thinking about stacking them side by side.I have been told that everything will double,I think a single Laser 400 has a power multi. of 50x, two will make it 100x. Just would like to know if anyone has done this, and what came of it. Thanks,73's Unit 07 Don

Dont belive the gain claims and power figures that they tell you. A staked set of beams gives you about 2 db more gain. In the real world the maco 400 has about 12 bd gain over a dipole. But it will take a very heavy duty tower, rotator, and mast to hold up those beams plus you need to worry about the windload as well. IMHo id just go with a laser 500 and be done with it. Stacked beams are a PIA IMHO,.

it can be done for sure, a guy in north carolina near running rapids stacked a set of jogunn star 8's. jounn has a stacking boom that they made for it that could be i'm sure adaptable to the Laser 500. allthough it can be done performance wise it a little lack luster with all the money, work and maintinace involved. he would never do it again but it does look mighty impressive. they do work better then a single star 8 on ground waving but when dx rolls and conditions are right an antronn 99 will talk just as far.

A local that I talk to (Denny 001) in Bridgeville Pa. had told me a while back that he has pictures of a stacked set of Lasers up near Erie Pa. He did say that the tower wasn't all that high and the stacked lasers looked awesome on top of it. If I recall correctly he had said that the tower was massively built along with the stacking boom. Hopefully sometime in the near future I can get together with Denny and try to get a copy of that picture so that I can post it for all to see. I'm really anxious to see it myself, it has to be an awesome sight !

I've seen it done many years ago, only with a Wilson Laser 500. There was a CB Shop (behind the Wagon Wheel Diner) along US 30 in Paradise,PA called Haggerty Electronics that did this back in the 70's. I spent a good part of my day watching them left it on to the tower using a crane. I had some pictures of it at one time, but lost them when moving. The look very impressive, but I didn't see much difference from when he only used a single Laser 500. In my opinion, they are more for looks than performance!

Thanks you all, for the info!!!!!!!!! I keep hearing more front gain, and more side rejection....That is a lot of wind load, operators around here are telling me that a tail twister will handle it,as far as rotor,.......I think I may try it this summer and if it doesn't do well,I can always go back to one laser 400 73's for now unit 07 don

Hi donnie07
Back in the late 80s I had a set of stacked Moon raker 4's.
I will let you know this is not for the weak of hart lol. the gain you will get will be mostly side and back rejection. the forward gain will only increase by about one s unit about a 3db gain like zman said. It is not an inexpensive task for about the same price you could put up a lighting 6 Quad and see much more improvements.
But It was a real filling of accomplishment to see that thing sitting at 60 feet in the air.
