Does anyone know what kind of diode is used as a "superslider" diode? The clarifier mods in Secret CB say to use a "superslider" diode but they dont tell you what kind of diode to use.

I don't recall the diode, usually the installers sanded off the number so others couldn't do the same mod.
The main problem with those 'super slider' mods was the radio tended to drift all over the band. Even breathing on the knob would change frequency. And forget about using it on a SSB radio.

I have a Robyn 505D that belonged to my uncle and it has a slider diode. Its a pain in the back because it will even make me off freq on AM. Im wondering if i can do the clairifier mod without the silly diode?

Yea, "superslide" clarifiers were another one of those "let's see how far we can push the limits of practical engineering" mods. Having a clarifier drop 10 khz was a popular mod for 23 channel radios as it would give you 7 extra channels. But with a 10 khz step capability of PLL radios, there's no practical reason to mod the clarifier for more than +/- 5 Khz. Without a vernier gear reduction, it becomes an exercise in frustration trying to tune people in on SSB. And, as you mentioned, it increased the drift potential. But hey, CB radio was all about pushing the limits for many people, and those same people seemed to be willing to put up with the quirks in those heavily modded radios.

I put one of those in my Cobra 2000 back in the day. It does about 40khz up and 10k down. It's stable. If I was to change it out with something modern and "less" super, what would one use these days?

I put one of those in my Cobra 2000 back in the day. It does about 40khz up and 10k down. It's stable. I stand corrected. My M65 super diode was causing my SSB TX frequency drift. If zman here is the same zman on cbtricks, he can confirm. I put the stock varactor back in with a 20k, ten-ten pot, 4khz up, 20khz down.
