Does anyone use these antennas anymore? I see they are still being made and sold at almost every CB shop i go to. I bought a woman im seeing one for her van plus i gave her a Cobra 146 GTL I had laying around. She was using a Cobra mag mount but it doesnt tune very well.

I have two that I use, one on my car and one on my truck. The one on my truck is probably close to 30yrs old. I've been getting itchy to try one of the newer exposed metal coil style antennas, but afraid to spend all that money to find out it may not work as well as my k40. I have never had a problem using the k40 but then again I don't pump massive power through them either, just a 2970. I would have also liked to try dual 108" whips on the truck, but it too would more than likely not work since I don't have enough distance to keep them apart. Sniper

I haven't had the tuning problem that you describe with the Cobra mag mount antenna. If the one you're talking about is white with the blue Cobra logo, I just took one off a car that I traded in and I've used it so long that the plastic is turning yellow. Works as good as K40's I've used. It's getting too ugly to use on the car I bought so I'll get a new K40 but the Cobra one still works like a champ. The Wilson antennas probably out perform the K40 but I like the twist on/off feature.

They work fine, just don't run a lot of power through them and they'll last.

There fine antennas, Some prefer the Wilson's because they can handle a little juice. I have a new old stock in the box ...but i don't have the whip. I don't even know what they are worth now. Bur they are fine as long as you're not trying to juice them up.
