I have two Emperor 3010 radios here with the exact same problem. They won't run if it's less less 40 degrees, but if you leave the radios run constantly they will still run in the cold. If you shut the radios off, you have to get the vrhicle warmed up to about 140 degrees before the radios will come on. they also squeal on recieve on their own and If you key up before the radio is warm. it breaks up. does anyone know of such a thing, I've tried flexing the board and have searched for cold solder joints.

It sounds as if the radio's oscillator needs to be tweaked just a bit. The tuning of the oscillator is now just sitting on the edge. Sorry, I don't have the schematics for that particular radio.

Thanks for the reply. Would that be the VCO you're talking about?

There seems to be a lot on this radio on the internet but not the problems you are describing I found some mods for it also cbworldinformer.com/cb_world_970201.htmbut no mention of the problem in cb tricks although it shows the radio schematic I believe. Not much help though. DOCTOR/795

Thanks for the input, guys. I was going to put them in the freezer and then align them one at a time but the owner says that has been tried at another shop so I told hm that I couldn't find the problem. I'm not going to pull my hair out trying to find what the person with the golden screwdriver may have done. Thanks for your efforts!
