I tried and I tried, but I couldn't put Sandbagger's needle in the red from South Carolina. S9 is the strongest signal I can put in to the side of Sandbagger's beam on the live feed. Still that is 1 s unit more than the local jammer puts when Sandbagger's beam is pointed east. So, I'm going to have to cut down some more trees and make room for an 8 element curtain array aimed at Sandbagger. That should put me in the 9 dbd antenna gain area. I already started chopping down one tree, and I have two more to go before the path will be clear enough for a 78 foot long and 19 foot high broadside antenna array. Below is my best signal tonight in to Sandbagger's live feed. Too bad the jammer was not in there while I was lighting up the Lazy H with RF. I would have liked to have recorded a video of me stepping on him from South Carolina. Kinda of like a nerd trophy for CB'ers. ; ) Night Ranger Snapshot of Sandbagger's Live Internet CB Feed in Pennsylvania

Based on earlier comparisons of signals, you'd probably put my Hy-Gain, Tram, or Browning's meter up to about +15 - +20db over S9. But I'm not going to wreck a premium radio, putting all those miles on it for Spew Radio daily service. The Royce that is running it now was given to me, and it's a bit "rough", so I don't care if it dies. I also disconnected the internal power supply (it runs really hot) and I run the radio from 12V via a 2 amp switching wall-wart. Much cooler that way. But you do take out the local morons who play games, which is a fairly good accomplishment. But I wouldn't invest too much time trying to maximize signal in my direction. Murphy's Law states that as soon as you get the antenna tuned and ready, the conditions will go away for the remainder of the year, and you'll have to be satisfied with burning the grass in the front yard....... ;D

Murphy's Law states that as soon as you get the antenna tuned and ready, the conditions will go away for the remainder of the year, and you'll have to be satisfied with burning the grass in the front yard....... ;D That is true, but what the heck. I might as well have fun while I can. There is always the minor sporadic E skip season in December. Also that antenna is usable on 10 and 20 meters. It looks like an HR 2/x/.5 array is the best for your location as far as the angle of radiation. If I added more horizontal rows the take off angle would be too low for a South Carolina to Pennsylvania hop. I would wind up beaming the strongest signal in to Canada. From what I've read an HR 2/x/.5 array is best for medium range communications with a take off angle around 17 degrees above the horizon. A HR 4/x/.5 array has a take off angle of 9 degrees above the horizon which is best for 1500 miles or more. Also keep the current Royce 640. I'm already using it for my bench mark test. It is ok if the meter is tight at the end. That makes a success that much sweeter. I also played QRP with the live feed last night. I managed to get in to the live feed with only a 10 watt dead key before another skip signal wiped me out. It was actually a little amusing. I was taunting your local jammer with an Elmer Fudd voice. I said; "Hewwo widdle jammah. Can you hear me wid 4 whatts? ....Hewwo widdle jammah. Can you hear me wid 10 whatts? Hewwo widdle jammah, Can you hear me wid 20 whatts? ...etc." He was not around. He he. It made someone out in DX laugh when they heard me. Finally I dropped the maul and said; "Qwawanteened for Wabbititus. No one may weave the pwemesis!"
