I enjoyed listening to the Classic Radio Roundup over Spew Radio last night. Unfortunately I had no skip conditions to Pennsylvania from South Carolina. Tuesday night there was sporadic E skip running up the East Coast of the U.S. I heard Pennsylvania and New York coming in. I managed to put a weak S5 to S7 in to Spew Radio on Tuesday night, but Tennessee had better conditions in to PA than I did.
A guy in Tennessee coming in to Spew Radio was putting up to an S9 on Sandbagger's meter. He said he was running a Wizard Built box with a single 3cx1500a7 tube. My weak S5 to S7 signal from South Carolina was no match for him, plus my signal strength was fading rapidly. I was hoping for repeat sporadic E skip on Wednesday, but all I had on my end was a receiver full of Mexico and Central America.
The current solar flux for Thursday 9/15/2011 is 143, so the west coast of the U.S., Australia, Mexico, South and Central America, and possibly Hawaii should be in there strong this evening. I was picking up California and Montana on my mobile on 38 LSB during lunch.
Current Solar Flux report for 15:06utc 15 Sep 11 SFI: 143 A-index: 6 K-Index: 2

And, as luck would have it, we had yet ANOTHER T-Storm during the roundup, which may have played a part in suppressing the E-layer stuff. I had a good time running my Hy-Gain 623. I may have to look for some new (old) classics. I'm getting tired of running the same ones. Need some new toys to play with......

There is no way to get tired running a 623! ;D True...... Between the 623, my Trams and the Browning, I've got the high end classics covered. I'm thinking I need a couple of Couriers, and maybe a Demco or a Sonar to mix things up a little........ Who knows what I might come across at a yard sale?

Some of those old Demcos are really nice. I wouldn't mind a few of them myself.
