I bought a new truck...get to do a new install. I'm going simple, just a radio and antenna, no amp this time.
I am thinking of one of two radios that I own...a Uniden PC76 or a Uniden Grant. Both are tuned correctly, not clipped or cranked. The only mod done to either radio is that the 76 has a variable power installed for driving an amp. I know the 75 puts more out, but I think the Grant has better audio?
Thoughts?

My two biggest concerns would be size of the radio with respect to places to mount it, and noise blanker/receive performance. With modern vehicles, it's getting increasingly difficult to find suitable mounting spots for full size radios, and with the proliferation of computer controlled devices, the amount of noise generated can be hell.

People hear audio, they don't hear a few watts difference between radios..... go with the Grant!

Space is not a problem...2012 Chevy 2500HD Crew Cab... ;D I am going to mount to the center hump, and a full size radio is no problem.
I like both my radios, the Grant is just cool. As far as power, the Grant is about 10 watts (maybe less), the 76 is about 16 watts...but I'm going to be using it more for listening than talking, so power isn't a concern. I want to think the Grant has better RX, but its been almost a year since I ran it.
Grant it is! Thanks!

Ummm, mental note to one's self...don't move, then undo your radio room, then have a house fire...I CAN'T FIND MY GRANT!
Well, at least the one I want to use... ;D

I like the 76 with a power mic. It's a loud radio.
