Hi all. I am curious what the difference in between the 2517 or 2527? I have a chance to buy one or the other. I am most concerned with receive qualities and clean transmit audio. Thanks

Thanks If it were me, I would go with the 2517. It is the newer of the two radios, and still available. They both do about the same, a guy I know has a 2517 and seems to like it!

They are both good radios and specs are very similar between the two. There are some issues that sprang up with the 2527 model though. (I had a 2527) Some of them had power supply problems (same as the similar Ranger model) and the Display board would sometimes fail in them. It also had a few things the 2517 didn't have: Voice-Changer and 4-position Robot voice, it also had split frequency ability for working FM repeaters, something you don't have on the 2517. Here is a link to specs on both radios from Galaxy's website... www.galaxyradios.com/2527.htmlwww.galaxyradios.com/2517.htmlLinks at the bottom of both pages will take you to the specifications of both radios. If it was me buying another one, I would go with the 2517 this time...

My vote is for the 2517!!!!! There are a few techs here that wont even touch a 2527 because its "too old" and these are the same ones that refuse to work on a Cobra 148 GTL side mic.. LOLOLOLOL
