I must have overlooked this, is this going to be a weekly thing? if so I will be listening for the roundup crew. This was an idea that the guys down in Delaware county started. I don't know how long it will continue. I guess that all depends on how much interest it generates......

I have to say that Regency was pretty stable on side band that's what it's all about running the older 23 channel rigs on a classic SSB channel. So if you miss Wednesday you can hit Thursday night!

Most of the older solid state crystal SSB rigs were pretty stable. It sometimes took a little work to net each crystal on the exact frequency, so that your clarifier sat at 12 O'clock for center frequency on every channel. But once setup, they tended to stay there. Drift was only usually a problem when you had a mobile rig in an ice cold car, that gradually warmed up as you drove.

Well Sandbagger sure like to hear that Tram D201 on LSB Thursday night @8pm because I hear it's going to be cold for awhile so you might need that space heater alittle longer lol.

I don't think I've used the D201 on SSB for more than a quick test, since I restored it. But I'm usually not around on Thursday nights, so I don't think I'll be there.....

Well, this time I remembered to tune Spew Radio to channel 16 LSB for this past Thursday night's SSB roundup. I thought I heard a couple of stations in there before I had to head back downstairs. Don't know if any of our locals showed up this time, as I couldn't hang around.....

Well, I haven't heard any feedback as to how the SSB roundup went last night. I parked the Spew Radio receiver on 16 LSB before I went out last night. But I don't know who showed up.

Well it was myself, Leadfoot, One Eye Jack, Rick, Hammer Head, Rat Man, and Ron from the Classic Roundup Crew! Had a good night off to a good start. Thanks for parking Spew on the channel that night Bagger, thanks for the support!

I stopped in, but have a lot of local Tri-Axle AM radio traffic due to my close proximity to Rt 476 and the ongoing lane widening project. I tried.

Maybe if I try to listen in with the Yaesu FT-1000MP I can "auto-notch" the AM carriers out. That feature really works well. I'll give that a whirl next Thursday night.

I'll give that a whirl next Thursday night. Yeah we were shooting for Classic radio. But I think everyone was running a Ranger or newer style radio including myself. But it still was a lot of fun to get a group together using the old SSB channel. We had some guys running Tram D201's before that really sounded good on SSB. I was surprised how good they sounded and loud!

Now that's a base station! It is, if you spend all of your time on SSB. I've never known anyone in my area that ever owned a Stoner radio. In fact I never even heard of Stoner until the late 90's, when the rise of the internet opened up information resources that didn't exist in years prior. I did know a few hard core SSB/Freeband guys. Most of them upgraded from a standard modified SSB/AM CB radio to a ham HF rig, which sported all of the advanced features that the Stoner had and then some. A good Yaesu or Kenwood didn't cost all that much more than a Stoner setup. I'm guessing that these were the primary reasons that no one (who I knew) ran a Pro-40 in my area. I did know a few guys who ran CPI radios though. Maybe because they had AM built-in?

But it does come with a factory stock mic, unamplified of course.
