My Dodge common-rail diesel already suffers from fuel injector RF interference, but when I installed a Chinese dash cam I lost my receive on the CB almost completely. These dash cams and other USB cord powered devices are notorious for radiating and injecting hash. They have a cigarette lighter plug on one end and a USB connector on the other end. I believe there must be a voltage regulator or voltage drop circuit inside of cigarette lighter plug end to get the voltage down to 5 VDC. I found myself unplugging the dash cam and Garmin GPS when ever I tried to talk with someone on the CB. Of course that's when someone will plow into me and I'll wish the dash cam was functional If anyone knows of a RF interference free 12VDC to USB car power adapter, let me know. Thanks!

You would think that the easiest way to get 5V from a 12V source would be to use a straight up 7805 regulator, and call it a day. But no, these USB power sources all seem to use some sort of switching regulators, which are more complicated and, as you're noticed, give off all sorts of RF pollution. The thing is, it's a hit or miss situation. Some USB sources are noisy as heck, while others are tolerable. You just have to find the right one. P.S. Thanks for coming last night. Hope you guys had a good time......
