Hi I'm new to the forum but not the radios.....although it's been since the late 80's since I've owned on I used to own a couple different Brownings.....after being hurt on my job I was forced to retire due to the severity of the injury and complications in 2014 so after pending how to deal with boredom anymore I decided to get back into Radio again.....i've bought a Browning Mk III 23 channel AM\SSB the radio is coming with D-104 but not sure if it's powered or non-power.....anyway I also bought a D-104 Night Eagle which I know is power.....so I connected with a local CBer here from purchasing a piece of equipment from and he says he doesn't think I can use the powered D-104 on the browning....i am almost sure the D-104 I ran on my browning in the 80's was powered but now he has me second guessing myself if my old age memory is faint me or am I correct in thinking I did use powered D-104's back then? Any help in refreshing my memory would be appreciated.... Thanks

You just have to be careful not to set the gain control too high, as the radio itself has plenty of audio gain.

Thanks Sandbagger I didn't think my memory had gotten THAT bad lol. No, you're good. The main reason the amplified D104 was designed was to adapt the high impedance D104 head to low impedance solid state radios. Tube rigs, like the Browning, are high impedance so the straight D104 works well unamplified. But driving a high impedance radio with a low impedance mic, like the amped D104, won't cause problems.
