Not sure about a voltage tap point inside the radio but all "wall warts" are not created equal. Some are total RF noise makers and some are totally silent. Some are heavy old transformer styles and some are light weight switcher styles. Both can be good or bad. Luckily, I have acquired enough of them over the years to be able to try them on-the-fly. Ones that create RF hash go right in the round file.
I also re-use old 9V batteries that I pull out of my powered desk mics to power fans. Just install some alligator clips on the fan's wire leads and bingo, guaranteed RF silence. I may get a few nights worth of power from the old 9V's before they stop running the fan.
