I know you can change the relay in a MKlll, but what do you do for the MKll? I have cleaned them before, but what do you do when you have to change them? Jim/238

Changing the socket to accept the now-standard 'ice-cube' size relay is where we start. Fortunately it fits in the same size chassis hole as the old socket.
Bad news is that the layout of the pins is different. Can't just put the wires on the new socket where you found them on the old one.
We took the attitude that going to that much trouble justifies one more change. The 6.3-Volt AC heater power can be fed into a voltage doubler circuit. Two electrolytic caps and two rectifiers will power a 12-Volt DC relay coil. Much easier to find than the original 110-Volt DC coil. Typically cheaper. A small transistor on the 'cold' side of the relay coil reduces the current through the mike switch and makes feedback less likely.
The much-older Browning AM transmitters that had the relay bolted down are more trouble.
I thought sure I had posted pics of relay replacement in the Mark 3 SSB transmitter. But I can't find it here. I'll see what I can turn up in the archives at the shop.

Have not ran this MKll set in about 2 years. Last time i ran them they worked fine. You can run them a while an it keys but no power output & no ping. Have cleaned the relay twice so i am thinking some might be getting hot after awhile. Tubes have been checked. Jim/238

Put the relay out of my other MKll in it. It seems to work good now. Is the relay out of a MKlll the same as a MKll? Jim/238
