I have a MKll transmitter that was rebuilt by fixr/Alan in January 2009. First problem i ever had. It has a problem with audio. 3 guys i talk to all the time said it sounds like i had something wound to tight. Only thing in line was my 180. Took it out & changed the mike. Same thing, took MKll out of line put my s/9 in line problem solved. The transmitter looks good on the watt meter, keys 3 an swings. Not sure where to start, have check tubes. Jim/238

Check the 470K 1/2 W resistor on pin 2 of the 12AX7 tube and see if it has changed value. It will change the audio tone.

Checked pin 2 it looks like the cap has leaked on pin 2. It has corrosion on the pin so could not get a good read on the 470k. Just going clean and change both. Will have to clean the coax. Thanks for the help. Jim/238
