Bought a Royce model 1-641 40 channel AM/SSB CB in mint condition for $69.00. Was operating 6 months ago when put away. I think a good deal as most SSB 40 channel base radios are at least $150 on eBay. This has a serious receiver like the Royce 1-642 with dual conversion on SSB & AM having two IFs used in both modes and four IF filters on AM and three IF filters on SSB using a mechanical filter for SSB that is superior to ceramic IF filters. Royce also has discrete transistor push-pull transformer coupled audio section for receive and transmit audio. Superior to Op-amps or single-ended design audio found in most CB radios. It is as good a receiver as a Cobra 2000 IMO. In fact, the Royce sounds like tube audio. Perhaps the Royce 1-641 & 1-642 are the best kept secret high performance receivers due to little info on the internet.
Update- radio received. Needed DeOxit on switches, pots and receive/transmit relay. Works perfect. Receive audio is crystal clear like a tube radio! Where is mic gain pot?

Update- Mic gain pot is V7 on a 1.5" x 1.5" vertical mounted board on right side. Radio now keys 5 watts and swings to 20 watts on AM or SSB with an amplified mic or 16 watts with a non-amplified Pro Com mic. The mic input appears to be much higher than the standard solid-state 600 ohm mics, so you need a fully shielded mic cartridge wire. Not all new mics have a fully shielded mic wire.
