I do know I should look for myself, but with the dismal performance (expected, of course) of the 2700 receiver I came across a few weeks back I figured I would ask.. Do the K Trans in these have a single slug or are they dual slug? I did not seem to detect dual slugs in my initial fiddling, but who knows.. The receiver does hear, but only really strong stations on mute to a degree.

Probably bad caps in ktran. Common headache.

K-Trans have a cup core on top and on the bottom, both. A thick flat screwdriver-blade type tuning tool is what's needed. The tool doesn't have to be non-magnetic, since it doesn't extend down inside the ferrite tuning slug. In this case it's a hollow cup shape that gets adjusted.
Best of luck and 73.
