On a browning mark three, what would happen if the value of the ping resistor was changed? Specifically increased or maybe even decreased? Just curious.

We replace the factory half-Watt resistor with a 2-Watt part. Only because a long ping will overheat the original part. The larger replacement never has this problem. We stick to the original 2.2k resistance value. It serves primarily to limit the current to the screen grid of the speaker-amp tube. If you wanted to make the ping "variable" you can insert a pot between the negative side of the ping cap and ground. Never got in that habit. 73
