Wired up a G stand Astatic with the D104 head today for a Titan I'm working on and every time I unkey it's making a squealing sound from the speaker. Switched over to a T-3 head and it stopped doing it unless I face the mic element towards the speaker then it will do it. What can I do to correct this?

That radio needs for the mike to short across the audio wire when it's receiving. Most D104 versions do that.
This usually stops the problem. If someone used that mike on a radio with an aftermarket roger beep, the wire that does this could have been cut. The add-on roger beep only works on a mike that doesn't ground the audio wire in receive mode.

If the G stand is original, there should be a Green & White wire running from the transmit switch to the middle solder lug in the base of the microphone. That is the audio ground when the mic is not keyed.
