Sold my President McKinley and 350 watt SS amp. I only talk local now and the guys are on every night. I bought a Radio Shack TRC-483 and it works well. Cut resistor R57 for 16 watts peak out. CB cost $29 new in box, never used. Guaranteed no cigar or cigarette breath on the mic.

Nice! Don't know if I'd give up chasing skip, even with a 'low' power setup skip is still possible.

I use ham radio to chase skip. I have no problem with that. My favorite ham band has always been 10M, so if skip is out there on F-layer, I know that the 11M band should be active, too. My second favorite band is 6M. I love chasing that Sporadic-E, so there is that. As long as you enjoy the hobby, I have no problem with how anyone does it.

Local CB group broke up, back chasing skip on 11 meters.

That's a shame, but not unexpected these days...

That's a shame, but not unexpected these days... Local CB net shutdown. I am back to chasing skip and bought a 1000 watt output D&A Phantom.

Local CB net shutdown. I am back to chasing skip and bought a 1000 watt output D&A Phantom. It seems to be a common problem nowadays. Sad to see, but with all the new technology I guess it's inevitable.
