Just wondered what would cause this ? The Xtal RX is twice as loud, I see the final rx section seems to work for both, however cannot see why there is a differrence in RX level between the two ? Does the Manual have any separate tuning for RX , in contrast to the Xtal circuit effecting RX performance ? Also yes they are both on same frequency. Thanks for any advice. 389 Adrian When you say "louder", is it simply a difference in volume level, or does the S meter show a significant difference in signal as well? Something like this can be caused by several things. Weak tube in the VFO, out of tolerance carbon resistors in the VFO circuit, or alignment. The D201 is one of the best performing CB radios made. But it does not age well. The 100,000 mile overhaul typically contains a multitude of parts, not just the expected electrolytic capacitors. Pretty much all of the 1 and 2 watt carbon resistors are suspect, as are the tubes, and crystals.
