Would it be ok to use a cement resistor for the ping resistor? Thanks.

Ummm..
Ping resistor? In what radio?
If this were a Browning Mark 3 receiver, this would be R56, a 2.2k 1/2 Watt resistor. The stock R56 gets hot and discolored if the ping capacitor is large. We use a 2-Watt carbon-film resistor, but a wirewound will work just like it's supposed to. This is a DC-only circuit. Only a RF circuit will care about the quirks of a wirewound resistor. This one won't.
And maybe you meant something different?

Yes Sir I was talking about a MK3. I have some new cement resistors and was wondering if it would be ok to use as the ping resistor because I know you can’t use them in all applications. Thanks

They're perfectly okay for this application. It's a DC circuit that won't care about the properties of a wirewound resistor.
